Post a photo of Cretan stitch

Time for another post a photo challenge. “Post a photo of …” challenges are photos of past or present work and the challenge is open to all members. Feel free to join in as life dictates.  The idea is share a photos of what you have done along a theme I set. There are no sign ups or tight regulations The only thing is that you have to tag your photo with keywords I set. Participants can post more than one photo but are asked limit the number of photos to 5.

Post a photo of Cretan stitch and tag it cretan. Please use the single word and no capitals as the tags are case sensitive.

Cretan stitch is a versatile stitch that most members will use. I am sure those that did the TAST challenge or are in the hand embroidery group will have samples to share. Or people in the  Stitch Junkies group will be able to tag stuff as it is one of the free basic stitch worksheets I produced and can be found here if you scroll a bit  on Pin Tangle.

Time for a bit of fun again. Post a photo on stitchin fingers and tag it backstitch. This is an amazing versatile stitch that appears in many types of embroidery. So lets share our photos. I am sure those that did the TAST challenge or are in the hand embroidery or  Stitch Junkies group will be able to tag stuff as it is one of the free basic stitch files I produced.

Post a photo for International Women’s Day

Time for a post a photo challenge in honour of International Women’s Day (8 March). This is a global celebration to mark achievements of women past, present and future. 2011 is the Centenary Year.

The suffragette movement colors of purple for dignity, white for purity and green for hope. The challenge is to post a photo of any project you have made that have these colours in it and tag it “International Women’s Day”

Remember to include  ”International Women’s Day” inside inverted commas as then it will be one tag.
There are no sign ups or tight regulations. Participants can post more than one photo but are asked limit the number of photos to 5.

Festival of needles post a photo challenge

This week we have a special post a photo challenge as we have tied it with the Festival of needles. Take a look in the forum here is you are unsure what I am talking about.
Post a photo of your needle case or pincushion and  tag them “Festival of needles” and needlecase or “Pin cushion”.
When you tag remember to include multiple words inside inverted commas as then those words will form one tag.

There are no sign ups or tight regulations.

Participants can post more than one photo but are asked limit the number of photos to 5.

A very special event on stitchin fingers

We are going to run a very special web event on Stitchin Fingers. The idea came from Carol Anne when she posted  about the festival of needles in the forum.

We are going to  synchronise  a post a photo challenge with this inviting people to post photos of their needlecases and pin cushions

First Post a Photo challenge for the year!

I am back waving frantically and wishing every one a good new year. I also have the first post a photo challenge for the year. What will it be I wonder … drum roll.

The first challenge this year is to post a photo on stitchin fingers and tag it “fly stitch” and make sure you include the two words inside the inverted commas as then it will form one tag.

I am sure those in the Stitch Junkies group will be able to tag stuff as it is one of of the free basic stitch files I produced

Seasons greeting to all

Incase you did not get my email yesterday I want to wish all on Stitchin fingers a safe holiday season and a happy new year.

Stitchin fingers has grown in leaps and bounds this year. We now have over 3700 members with a huge number of special interest groups.The photo section is huge as it now hosts over 18,000 photos.

Thanks to every one who took time to join in the “Post a photo of …” challenges. We will be having more in the new year!

Congratulations goes out to anyone who hit no 1 in the top content boards. These are listed on the front page but you can also find more detailed top content topics under the leader boards tab.

I really want to thank all group organisers for all their tireless activity as they are a key part of the site.Without them things would go quiet pretty quickly.
I also want to thank those who have written tutorials for the site (I am always happy to publish more just contact me).

Also there are some very active members who regularly post comments on photos and give feed back in the forums as it is active members that make Stitchin Fingers what it is.

Finally I want to thank our wonderful sponsors for without their support we would not have a site. So don’t forget to visit them.
